In Thingvellir, the national park in Iceland, are incredibly clear and beautiful water, Silfra. Many says that it´s one of the best keep secrets in Iceland. And it´s difficult to protest against that view! Many time it said it´s one of the top dive sites in the world.
For sure it´s special to be there. Seeing everything so clear and snorkeling in the crack between the North American and Eurasian continents. Each year it moves 2 cm from each other. You can choose between diving or snorkeling, and this have been popular and popular through the years. But important to have in mind that you need to be on a tour and know what you are doing.
We saw this great video of it and believe the pictures in the video say more than 1000 words. So we put it here in so you can see what we are talking about. More about it here.
Hello,
I have seen pictures of diving in Silfra before and have thought about it sense then. Nice to see a video. I would love to come see it sometime. I also would love to ride the Icelandic horses! I live in Alaska and there are direct flights from here so maybe someday I will visit!
Awesome site, so beautiful!
Jessica
Thank you very much for kind words.
Yes, Silfra is a perfect place for diving, but it´s too a very important place for the soul of Iceland, Thingvellir. So spend there a lot of hours would be a very good idea. You can even find a horse to go there so in one day you can get diving, horse riding and look around in Thingvellir!
Now are a direct flight from Alaska like you said. it´s not so many years since it starts but was for sure a splendid idea.
